February 2025 Meeting
The next meeting of the Sawyer County LCO Democratic Party is set for Tuesday, February 25 at the Kinnamon School Visitor Center and Museum. The public is invited to stop by at 5:30 p.m. for snacks, social hour, and listening session. You’re invited to share your thoughts about what it means to be a Democrat, or just hang out with fellow Dems. Stay for the regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m. if you wish. Webinar: Wisconsin Supreme Court—Judging Judicial Candidates
The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin invites you to join a webinar titled “Wisconsin Supreme Court Election: Judging Judicial Candidates” from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.
This webinar will provide voters with information about how citizens can assess candidates’ perspectives on and knowledge of the judging process of a Supreme Court justice.
Speakers include Chad Oldfather from Marquette University Law School; Rob Yablon of the State Democracy Research Institute and Attorney Jeff Mandell of Law Forward
NOTE: This is the same evening as the Sawyer County and LCO Democrats regular monthly meeting, and we hope you can attend the meeting in person or online. We also hope the Feb. 25 webinar will be archived so you can watch it later if you come to our meeting instead. :)
Webinar: How to Choose a Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice
The League of Women Voters of Dane County invites you to join a webinar titled “How to Choose a Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice” from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025.
The league has assembled a panel of experts to take questions from the public, including Robert Yablon law professor at UW Law School; Judge Paul B. Higginbotham; and Jeff Mandell general counsel of Law Forward. Attorney Marilyn Townsend will moderate.
Yablon will address the task of judging a Supreme Court candidate. Higginbotham’s topic will discuss the role campaign finance plays in the elections and Mandell will talk about what the 2025-2026 Wisconsin Supreme court docket will look like.
