Take Part in Two Traditions at the Pow Wow

You’re invited to take part in two traditions from July 18-20—the tradition of the Honor the Earth Pow Wow held by the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and the tradition of staffing a booth at the Pow Wow by the Democratic Party of Sawyer County and LCO. Join us from the official opening of the pow wow with the Grand Entry at 7 p.m., Friday, July 18, or any time on Saturday, July 19, or Sunday, July 20.

See some details about the pow wow below. There are no shift assignments, so just show up to enjoy the pow wow and sit the booth. Bring your own chairs, water, and sunscreen.

Questions?

Again, there’s no need to sign up for a shift. But if you have any questions, please email sc.lco.dems@gmail.com. Thank you!

Join Us at the Hayward ‘Good Trouble’ Rally on July 17

“Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and redeem the soul of America.”

Those words of the late civil rights leader John Lewis are the inspiration for a day of action on Thursday, July 17, across America.

You can be part of this day of action on the 17th by joining us from 4 to 6 p.m. on the corner of U.S. 63 and Wisconsin 27 in downtown Hayward. The Hayward event is sponsored by Sawyer County and LCO Democrats and Up North Engaged—an Indivisible group.

National organizers describe “Good Trouble” as the act of coming together to take
peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change.
The day of action also gives us a chance to support and inspire each other.
Solidarity both shows our strength and gives us strength.

Action is necessary now because of the attacks on our civil and human rights by
the Trump administration. We need to remind Trump and his authoritarian crew
that power lies with the people in America—not a would-be king.

Sign up on Mobilize

You may sign up for the Hayward rally on Mobilize at GOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON: · Mobilize.
Or just show up. You can learn more through the Good Trouble Lives On website or the
50501 website—both of which are linked to a map showing rally locations across the country.

Guidelines

·       Stay on the sidewalk, and make way for passersby.

·       Bring signs—your own or ready-made signs provided by some participants. Strong, but civil, messages are welcome, e.g., “Make America America again,” “Protect rule of law,” “Support veterans,” “Save Medicaid,” etc., etc., etc.

·       Dress and prepare for the weather, e.g., use sunscreen, wear a hat, stay hydrated.

·       Always be peaceful. We are committed to non-violent action and messaging.

Logistics

Parking is available on the northeast corner of the intersection, next to the Shell Lake State Bank. Office hours will be over then, but remember to stay clear of the drive-through lane and a new ATM machine.

Safety marshals wearing orange vests will help direct the rally. They can answer your questions or concerns.

Contribute to a food drive

Hayward’s day of action includes a food drive. Bring your non-perishable food items and drop them off at a designated trailer in the parking lot. The trailer will be there shortly before and during the rally. Food shelf volunteers are providing boxes where you can place your contributions.

Patronize local businesses

Local businesses welcome your patronage. Spending money with local businesses is also a strong political statement. We recommend that you come early to shop, since some stores close at 5 p.m.

Mark your calendars

Here’s the time, date, and place of the rally again. Mark your calendars, and we hope to see you there!

Time: 4-6 p.m. Central Time
Date: Thursday, July 17
Place: Corner of U.S. 63 and Wisconsin 27 in Hayward.
(Note that the map may be wrong on Mobilize, so ignore it if it is.)

Some 500 people showed up at the June 14 “No Kings” rally in Hayward.
