Updated July 30, 2026
Please join us for the Heart of the North Candidates Picnic from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug.8, 2026 at Ojibwa Park on State Highway 70—east of the village of Ojibwa and west of the town of Winter.
Sponsors are the 7th CD and Sawyer County and LCO Democrats. We’re lining up a full slate of Democratic Party candidates for state and federal offices.
Mike Wiggins has confirmed attendance as keynote speaker. The former chair and executive director of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Wiggins is an engaging, inspiring speaker. These days Wiggins is the interim site director of the Madeline Island Museum. He is also a respected advocate for indigenous rights and environmental causes.
Candidates who have confirmed attendance include:
Francesca Hong, who is running for governor;
Fred Clark and Ginger Murray, who are running for the 7th CD U.S. House seat;
Charly Ray, Gillian Battino, Richard Pulcher, and Jeff Foster, who are running for Wisconsin Senate seats;
